The Fossil ID service is provided by myself and/or my team for general educational purposes.

I am NOT able to offer appraisal services or advise on the potential monetary value of fossils or other items, so please refrain from asking!

To assist with identifying your find, I will ask you to please upload no more than three pictures of the item taken from different angles and/or sides. Ensure that each image file size is no larger than 1.5 MB; if they exceed this limit, please resize them to enable successful uploads.

Identifying a fossil without knowledge of its origin can be challenging. Therefore, please include as much location information as possible, particularly the approximate locality or place where it was found (to help me look up the formation) and the stratigraphy or rock layer (if known). 

Please provide this information and be as specific as you can.

In addition to location, knowing the relative size of the fossil is crucial for accurate identification. Please include a scale in every photo, such as a scale bar or ruler.

Photograph all items against a neutral background, such as gray or tan.

*PLEASE DO NOT USE WHITE OR BLACK BACKGROUNDS*, as they can mislead camera meters. If your photo is grainy or pixelated, I may struggle to evaluate it.

Submissions that do not meet these requirements may experience significant delays.
